Ice-cold Warriors go 3-of-27 from downtown; 11-game win streak over

The Denver Nuggets snapped the Golden State Warriors' 11-game win streak with a 96-81 victory on Saturday at Oracle Arena. Denver (18-15) led for much of the contest, holding an advantage as high as 19 points. The 81 points were a season low for the Warriors, and the loss marked their first in December. After the game, most of the Warriors headed straight for the locker room instead of congratulating the opposition as they typically do. "It didn't feel like we were into it emotionally tonight," head coach Steve Kerr said. "Sometimes after a long winning streak, for whatever reason, you let your guard down a little bit, and it wasn't there. Our guys pushed, and they tried, but we couldn't generate the energy and the effort that's needed to win a game in this league." Golden State (26-7) had problems scoring the ball all night. Kevin Durant produced a team-high 18 points but was 6-for-17 shooting and 0-for-5 from downtown. Klay Thompson

As always, the Christmas season is all-but drowning in new movies, a fact amplified even more by the now-standard pre-Christmas monster ( Star Wars ,  The Hobbit , etc.) that now kicks the year-end blitz into high gear. There has been a lot of talk about whether merely being one of the biggest movies of all time is good enough for  The Last Jedi , but we should note that at least part of the comparative downturn for the eighth  Star Wars  episode is due to a deluge of kid-friendly competition this time out. Speaking of which… Sony and Columbia’s  Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle  is exactly the hit its creators needed. For Sony, it’s a chance to prove that they can successfully readapt existing IP in a world where rebooted or revamped IP is the most valuable sort of capital. And, since it’s a fun, well-made little movie, it’s proof that Sony can make decent tentpole-ish movies outside of the Spider-Man or James Bond franchises. Mega Millions results for 12/22/17; did anyone win the $253M jackpot?

The Mega Millions jackpot continues to grow at a rapid rate as there was no winner of the $253 million jackpot for the drawing on Friday, Dec. 22. That means the drawing on Tuesday, Dec. 26 will be worth $277 million with a cash option of $172 million. The Mega Millions numbers for Dec. 22:  01-20-30-33-42 The Gold Mega Ball:  16 The Megaplier:  4 Mega Millions winners for Dec. 22: While there was no grand prize winner, one ticket sold in California matched all five white numbers drawn to win $1 million. However, that player did not play the Megaplier option which would have increased the winnings to $4 million. There were 326,018 tickets sold that won at least $4 in the drawing. In Michigan, 14,566 tickets sold won at least $4 in the drawing. One ticket sold in Michigan matched four white balls and played the Megaplier to win $2,000 in the drawing.
